Arthur Sales steps up in a big way in Brazil

Similar to his Mamelodi Sundowns teammate Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Arthur Sales’ status in Brazil has risen significantly. Here's why!

The story

It appears that the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has boosted the profile and popularity of Brazil-born footballers based in South Africa.

Ribeiro Costa was recently met with a hero's welcome in the region of Turilândia, where hundreds of locals embraced the 26-year-old upon his return home.

Now, the same is true for fellow Masandawana star Sales, who headlined a charity event aimed at collecting donations for those in need in his local community.

Sales was pictured holding a Sundowns jersey in the build-up to the event and was credited as one of the driving forces behind the initiative.

Organisers of the event, Jogo Beneficente Serra, expressed their satisfaction with how the charity match unfolded, which also featured Sales.

Jogo Beneficente Serra said on Instagram: "Gratitude – one word sums up what today was all about!

"We’re so happy with how everything turned out — a day filled with joy, peace, and solidarity!

"It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to help others through the talents God has given us, and you were all amazing today!

"We received many food donations that will make a real difference in the lives of underprivileged children.

"Thank you to all the athletes and friends who took part in the match."
