Clubless Dove training with Sporting CP talent

Edmilson Dove is now training with a Sporting CP star who once spent four months on trial at Mamelodi Sundowns before joining the Portuguese champions. Here's a look!

The story

Dove left Kaizer Chiefs last month following the expiry of his contract, having spent three years at Naturena.

The Mozambique international is currently without a club, raising questions about whether he might have another stint in South Africa or seek opportunities elsewhere entirely.

Nevertheless, Dove has already begun preparing for a new chapter, as he has been training privately with some well-established stars.

He has been spotted training alongside Geny Catamo, who was one of Sporting CP’s key players during their triumphant 2024/25 Liga Portugal campaign.

While Catamo has already won three trophies with Sporting, including back-to-back league titles, some may have forgotten that he was once on trial at three South African clubs before earning his big break in Portugal.

These clubs include SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

In October 2023, Catamo told KickOff: "Pitso (Mosimane) used to talk to me during my time at Sundowns, because he always took interest in the development of players," Catamo told KickOff from Lisbon.

"I spent the longest time at Sundowns, which was about four months, but that time really helped."
