Supporters Forum: Food cravings made choose Chiefs

In this edition of Supporters Forum,  KickOff catches up with Mpumalanga province-based Kaizer Chiefs supporter Emmanuel Makena on his long-standing affair with the Soweto giants.

Makena reveals how the craving for food forced him to choose Amakhosi as his favorite club.

Name of supporter?

"I'm Emmanuel Makena from Siyabuswa in Mpumalanga, under the Dr. JS Moroka Municipality. I'm in the Kaizer Chiefs Siyabuswa Branch. And I'm working in the retail business."

Club supported?

"There is no other club, since birth I've been supporting Kaizer Chiefs. Even though things are not so good at the moment, we will die alongside this club.

"I remember growing up, one day I was so hungry I couldn't even stand up straight, I was five years old.

"And the same day the Soweto Derby was on TV, our house was divided, and right there on the spot I was asked which team I supported between the two.

"Now, because the group that supported Chiefs had some nice food on their table, I chose Chiefs. And since that day I have been a Kaizer Chiefs supporter."

How long supported?

"It's 16 years now."

Are you happy with the bosses?

"So far so good, even though our performance is pretty bad. I don't have a problem with our management, they should just encourage the players. They must continue supporting these boys. At the moment there is no leadership  quality in the team."

Are you happy with the coach?

"I don't have a problem with the coach to be honest. Cavin Johnson only needs our support. I believe he can do the job."

Are you happy with the players?

"We've signed well this season, with such players we should at least win something this season. I know we are not good enough to win the league. We only need one player who can make the whole team tick. I believe Itumeleng Khune should be brought back into the team. He knows the club best."

Who do you want them to sign?

"Elias Mokoana from Sekhukhune United. I think he can fit perfectly in that Chiefs team."

Your message to the team?

"We all saw how bad this season went, but they must remain strong and bounce back stronger next season."
