Reinforcements update at Chiefs ahead of new season

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has given insight of what is happening at the club as the subject of signings remains topical with the new season just a fortnight away.

Chiefs have gone into the market and brought in Flavio Silva from Indonesia with the expectation that he will deliver in leading the forward line.

Also coming in has been Siphesihle Ndlovu, Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, and Paseka Mako while Thulani Mabaso, Naledi Hlongwane, Kabelo Nkgwesa, and Manqoba Ozoemena are some of those promoted.

This gives Nabi up to 10 fresh options for the new season which will come with CAF Confederation Cup football.

"There are one or two positions that we might strengthen," says Nabi.

"But we are going to look for the best opportunity especially in terms of quality because we don’t want to fill a position just to fill it.

"We will wait as long as it requires to fill one or two positions going ahead.

"We also need as well to give the opportunity this season to the young players that came from DDC as well as the ones that were promoted last season because we feel that there is a big potential.

"But we want to do it step by step because we have learnt from a player like (Mduduzi) Shabalala that has been given a lot of responsibilities and carried the team on his shoulders last season especially the first part of the league.

"At the end of the league he kind of… not collapsed, but his performance was not good as good as we expected.

"That is why we want to give them responsibilities as well without burning them and do it step by step," details the Chiefs coach who is in his second season at the club.

After a disappointing first season in the Betway Premiership, questions have been asked about the league.

"How we are approaching the season is that we are taking it game by game and to do everything we can to win that game.

"Of course, maybe it is not going to be possible to win all the games.

"Maybe it is going to be possible but we are going to challenge in every game in whatever capabilities that we will be in to challenge for every game.

"After that we will see where we stand," says Nabi.
