With Inacio Miguel’s commanding presence having been taken notice of, the club has settled for the Angolan Portuguese as their man to lead them into the new season.
Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi confirmed after the penalty defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup that Miguel has been handed the baton.
"The one who was captain today will be our captain for the new season," confirmed Nabi after the match talking to the media.
Miguel – who missed two penalties on Saturday – wore the armband in eight games last season and has already led the team through their pre-season.
Though the 29-year-old is only in his second season at Chiefs his influence has already been visible.
He was brought in from Angolan champions Petro de Luanda at the beginning of last season having already played in Portugal, Romania and Latvia.

His stay at Chiefs started amid disciplinary concerns after receiving four yellow cards and one red card in his first six games.
Fortunate for him was that he was then able to get his game in order so much that he was rewarded with the armband ending the season with 28 appearances.
He scored four goals.
