Chiefs goalkeeping coach: It was a tough season because...

Kaizer Chiefs' goalkeeping coach Ilyes Mzoughi has delivered his assessment on Amakhosi's  24/25 season, particularly the goalkeeping department, as Chiefs conceded the third highest amount of goals in the Betway Premiership.

Despite their Nedbank Cup triumph, Soweto giants will look back bittersweetly at their 24/25 campaign, having finished ninth on the log table and an embarrassing 32 goals conceded. Only Marumo Gallants (39) and AmaZulu (34) conceded more.

Additionally, the rotation of the three goalkeepers throughout the season also makes a strong indication that there is yet to be a clear number one shot-stopper, a problem that has prompted Chiefs to explore the market for a shotstopper.

Speaking to the club's media, goalkeeping coach Mzoughi has offered his assessment of what could

"It was a tough season, not only for the goalkeepers, but for the whole team," admitted Mzoughi.

"We were unlucky with some injuries and suspensions of our defenders, which affected the goalies in particular, and the team in general.

"Overall, I feel that all our goalkeepers made various excellent saves throughout the season, such as Bruce's (Bvuma) magnificent save against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final or Brandon's (Petersen) mature performance in the final."

Chiefs are currently in the Netherlands, where they have set up camp for their pre-season preparations. The Soweto giants will return to South African soil on 19 July, in time for their Toyota Cup clash against Asante Kotoko.
