Ex-Chiefs striker: Mofokeng has a bright future

In this latest edition of In The Spotlight, KickOff speaks to former Kaizer Chiefs striker Tshepo Bulu.

Bulu identifies a former Orlando Pirates defender as the player he was most intimidated to face.

Who is your all-time favorite player in South Africa?

"It's the late Gift Moremi. He was someone I grew up watching. He was unique compared to most players. I've never seen a footballer with so much confidence.

"I've known him since amateur levels; he would tell you, 'Today I'm playing with my left foot, and tomorrow with my right foot.' And he would actually do it."

Which defender posed the toughest challenge during your PSL career?

"Innocent Mdledle is one of them. He was known for being tough on strikers, especially during the Soweto Derby, where things were very personal. It was not easy to get past him."

Growing up, who was your idol?

"Doctor Khumalo. He was the best."

Is there a player you modeled your game after?

"Siyabonga Nomvethe. He was a very good striker with both skill and speed."

What is your favorite PSL club?

"Kaizer Chiefs. The feeling of putting on that gold and black jersey cannot be described in words."

Who is your favorite current player in South Africa?

"Relebohile Mofokeng is doing well. The future looks bright for him, and I hope he remains consistent."

Is there anything you dislike about football?

"Injuries, particularly when they occur at your peak performance. We come from different cultures; some believe in traditional practices, while others hold different beliefs. It can be challenging to determine if you are being affected by something beyond the game, including the possibility of being bewitched by teammates."
