Update on Ndlovu situation amidst Chiefs rumours

Amidst rumours that Kaizer Chiefs are interested in signing SuperSport United midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu, there is an update on the former PSL Young Player of the Season's situation.

Ndlovu made his name at Orlando Pirates after joining in 2019 from Maritzburg United and after three seasons with different coaches, was initially loaned out to SuperSport, just after the arrival of Jose Riveiro.

He featured, on average, in 22 games per season over three campaigns in Soweto and went on to become a mainstay in the engine room for Matsatsantsa in 2022/23, after which they made his move permanent.

Even though they had one of their challenging seasons, surviving relegation in their last game of last term, Ndlovu has reportedly attracted interest from Chiefs.

With the two-year contract he signed in 2023 expiring at the end of June, KickOff.com sought clarity on whether he will be a free agent.

The club has exercised the one-year option they had on his contract, as things stand.

"They (SuperSport) have actually taken the option, they have exercised it last week. One year," Ndlovu's agent Jazzman Mahlakgane revealed.

Quizzed on whether there is interest from other clubs, Mahlakgane indicated he was unaware, and that things will get clearer once he has been updated by SuperSport bosses on the future of the club following recent rumours floating around.

"Not that I know of, because of this thing that SuperSport may be gone or may be around. So, I'm waiting to hear from SuperSport (on the club's future)," Mahlakgane responded.

The squad is set to return for pre-season training over the weekend, where the picture will start getting clearer on the club's future ahead of the new campaign.
