Chiefs striker keeps sinking from bad to worse

Ranga Chivaviro’s departure talk has been necessitated by his failure to live up to expectations at Kaizer Chiefs.

Chivaviro is moving towards completing his second year at Chiefs with numbers that give little to no reason why the option on his contract should be exercised.

The 32-year-old has the option of another year on his deal.

With that optional year hanging in doubt, there are already considerations being made about his future.

All this is happening with Chivaviro having not played for almost three months now at Chiefs.

His last appearance came on February 12 against Cape Town City and since then has not been in the matchday squad for seven games, evidently having lost the confidence of Nasreddine Nabi.

Chivaviro has only scored thrice in the league in 18 appearances and has another two goals in cup competitions, which includes one against amateur club Free Agents FC.

This brings his total to five this season from 22 matches after having managed to score four last season in 23 games.

Nine goals in 45 appearances means he has scored once with every five appearances that he has made at Chiefs.

Chivaviro earned a contract with the Soweto giants after scoring 17 goals throughout the single season that he spent at Marumo Gallants.

Prior to that, he had largely played in the First Division, starting out at Witbank Spurs in 2013 after being spotted at a provincial youth tournament in Secunda.
