FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has made a £5-million (R100m) investment that could indicate where his next club could be.
Messi, 33, looked set to end his 20-year association with the Spanish giants last year after handing in a transfer request and despite the u-turn and returning to sparkling form for the club - speculation that he could leave has remained.

The record six-time Ballon d'Or winner has often flirted with the idea of returning to his homeland or moving to Major League Soccer before the end of his professional career but his lastest purchase of a luxury apartment in Miami could be his biggest hint yet over where he could land up after Barcelona.
"I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there, but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity," he told La Sexta amid reports that David Beckham intends to lure him to Inter Miami in future.
Investment or future home?
The R100m splurge of the entire ninth floor of the picturesque Florida-based apartment is not only a home fit for one of the greatest sportsman of all time but also spacious enough for a new start for his family.
It's been reported by Real Deal, the property is situated near Sunny Isles Beach with an incredible view of the ocean while space itself has four bedrooms and four bathrooms - with panoramic 360-degree views.
A private pool is also included in the 511 square metre abode with Marca reporting that a 1,000-bottle wine cellar is also included on top of the already spa, fitness centre, play studio for kids and yoga facilities.
However, the purchase could also be in line to increase his property portfolio as he continues to re-invest his incredible earning as the highest-paid footballer in the world.
