Chiefs host the Indian Ocean islanders on Saturday evening in the second leg of the preliminary round of this year’s CAF Champions League, having earned a comfortable 4-0 win away from home.
The contest may appear dead to some, yet Gaxa maintains his side will still be applying themselves at the same high tempo that won them the game at the Stade de Moroni on Valentine’s Day.
“People shouldn’t read too much into the 4-0 scoreline from the first leg and think that they are an easy team,” warns Gaxa, talking to snl24.com/kickoff.
“They are not a bad side at all and you could tell from the way they played that they were prepared to play against us.
“What made the difference for us against them is that we played a very high tempo which they struggled to cope with,” he continued. “That very same high tempo that we played with in Comoros is the same approach that we will employ on Saturday. We will not be treating them lightly just because we are already leading 4-0 from the first leg.
“At this level you cannot be treating any opposition with kid gloves so we will need to apply ourselves yet again in the same way that we did when we play them at their home.”
The experienced wingback adds that an avalanche of goals will be most welcome as goals always make a huge difference in lifting the confidence in the dressing room.
“If it happens that we score many goals then we will be happy because goals always help with lifting the confidence of the team,” he said. “If we score goals on Saturday it will rub off positively on us for the next games that we will be playing, as we still have a hectic schedule on the domestic scene.
"Our fans will also want us to score goals on Saturday so this is a game in which we will aim to do all the good things.”
Gaxa, who currently sits on three yellow cards in domestic football, is expected back in starting line-up this weekend after being benched in midweek against Polokwane City as a precautionary measure ahead of the Nedbank Cup meeting with Orlando Pirates next weekend.
