Mothiba has made four appearances for the senior national team and has scored three goals, an impressive start for someone who is already seen as the man to put an end to Bafana’s goal-scoring problems.
Nigeria, Bafana’s opponents in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at FNB Stadium on Saturday (15h00), are relieved that their tormentor Tokelo Rantie is not in the Bafana squad, but they will have their work cut out in dealing with the in-form Mothiba, who is competing with the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the French Ligue 1.
“I have watched a few games and you can tell that he is a well-groomed player. You can tell that he has been in Europe for quite some time,” Masinga tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“At the age of 22 and with the experience he already has and the professionalism he has, you can tell that there’s something within him. He needs to be given time to express himself and show what he is capable of doing.”
Mothiba will start upfront with Percy Tau, a partnership that has the potential to lead Bafana to the Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
