South Africa finally managed to beat Nigeria in a competitive fixture with a 2-0 win in Uyo last year in what was Stuart Baxter's first test since returning to the Bafana hotseat.
The 1996 AFCON winners will play their second AFCON qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday knowing a win will give them control of Group E.
Mokoana, who earned a record 107 caps and scored once against Zambia, is confident Baxter's men will deliver in KwaZulu-Natal.
"We won't lose, we won't lose and we don't have to lose. We don't lose against Libya," Mokoena told snl24.com/kickoff.
"They might be a good country but the fact that we are playing in Durban, in South Africa, we have to do well against them."
He continued: "But all the best to the boys, all the best to the boys. I do believe in the talent that we have [and] of course in the technical staff that we have.
"We are playing Libya ... in KZN ... we never had a bad performance in KZN from my playing days and it is still [like that].
"So bringing Libya to KZN, I know that the supporters will come to support the team. But it is about the players now to get on the playing field and perform.
"We need these three points. We have shown against Nigeria that we can still do the business. The boys started well, it is all about now building on that against Libya and moving on.
"The three points is in the bag at the moment and it is all about now making a point by making it difficult for Libya.
"We are playing at home and we should win," reiterated Mokoena, who was not involved in this national team camp after previously assisting long-term Bafana team manager Barney Kujane.
Mokoena, who captained Bafana at the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup, has been roped in by the South African Democratic Teachers' Union in KZN in its plan to promote school sport at an upcoming festival.
He attended a press conference today along with former Chippa United coach Teboho Moloi and ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani Ntshumayelo, as well as two former Banyana Banyana players Portia Modise and Makhosi 'Troublemaker' Luthuli.
