Lidoda Duvha were knocked out of the Telkom Knockout in the first round losing 4-2 on penalties to Amakhosi on Sunday afternoon.
Despite missing some golden chances, Masutha was proud that his charges were not overawed by the occasion.
“Our inability to convert chances was our undoing today because we could have been 3-0 or 4-0 up [at halftime]. And you know when you play against experienced teams like Chiefs at their home group you must expect a backlash in the second half. That’s what they did,” Masutha told SuperSport TV.
“The only thing that I’m proud about my players is that they never allowed the occasion to intimidate them. It was a good game for both teams fortunately Chiefs managed to convert their chances and we failed.
“We wanted to use the spaces that their full-backs were leaving [behind]. That was our plan to use the speed unfortunately we asked too much of the players as some of them were tired and could not do the double marking we required them to do."
