Pitso Mosimane's tenure in charge of Al Ahly got off to a winning start after seeing off Al Mokawloon 1-0 in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday evening.
Mosimane was on the bench just days following his arrival from Mamelodi Sundowns, as Senegalese striker Aliou Badj and veteran Ahmed Fathy started.
Mosimane's hand was forced two minutes before the half-hour mark, with goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy coming off injured. He was replaced by Ali Lotfi.

After an evenly-matched opening quarter, Ahly went to halftime in front courtesy of a converted spot kick from Amr Al-Soleya after the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted a foul in the box
Mosimane showed faith with a majority of his initial eleven, with no changes at halftime or in the earlier minutes of the second half.
Ahly battled to get going towards the midway stage in the second half, as Mokawloon's confidence on the ball and on the overall encounter started to grow.
Mosimane looked to wrap up the result as the clock ticked by, and threw on a double change in Geraldo and Marwan Mohsen with Badji and Hussein El Shahat removed.
There was no second goal that arrived in the latter minutes of the match, but Al Ahly heldon to hand Mosimane a winning start to his reign at the Cairo Red Devils.
