Black Leopards Joel Masutha hopes a local coach lifts the Telkom Knockout trophy this season

Masutha says he takes a lot of his inspiration as a coach from individuals such as Pitso Mosimane, Gavin Hunt, Steve Komphela and Fadlu Davids, and he'd love to see more local coaches coming through and doing well in the topflight of South African football.

"I always pray for these guys [local coaches] to win because we need to see more of them in our league. They are not jealous and they are an inspiration to someone like me. I am new in this field and I am learning a lot from them. If I don't win it, then one of us should win it," Masutha tells snl24.com/kickoff.

Leopards have made a slow start to the season, registering just two victories in eight matches so far, but Masutha is not feeling any pressure.

"I don't feel any pressure to be honest. When we go to the games I feel the same way I was when I was in the NFD. The good thing is that this is not the first time I am in charge of a PSL team. I have been caretaker coach for like games in the PSL, so I must just enjoy the challenge and try to apply what I have learnt from other coaches like Gavin Hunt.

"There's a few adjustments we need to make for us to be a force to be reckoned with. I believe we will get there because the step between the two leagues is big from what I am experiencing now, but I have confidence and belief that my boys will do the job."
