The defender hurt his shoulder early in Nigeria's 0-3 Confederations Cup group stage defeat to Spain and was taken off for an immediate X-ray.
"I had the option of surgery, which would keep me out for three months, or just rest it," Omeruo told KickOffNigeria.com. "I decided I would rest it.
"I want to be part of the pre-season with Chelsea, and I hope that I can do well enough to stay there and not go out on loan again."
Jose Mourinho has returned for his second spell as Chelsea manager, and Omeruo hopes to make it hard for the former Real Madrid boss.
"I'm sure he will be looking at all his options now, and if I work hard enough, I can make it hard for him," he told KickOffNigeria.com.
