Zambian keeper erases free agent status with new deal

Rustenburg-born goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe has signed a two-year deal after spending last season in the second tier of South African football.

Chibwe, who previously played for Polokwane City and Black Leopards, has returned to the MTN Super League giants a year on since his departure from the club.

He spent the 2024/25 season with Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

His initial tenure with ZESCO began in 2022, following a transfer from Baroka FC.

The 32-year-old has also also been on the books of Platinum Stars, Jomo Cosmos, and Garankuwa United during his career.

He joins his new club on a free transfer.

Although Chibwe was born and raised in South Africa, he chose to play for Zambia - the country of his parents' birth - in 2019, during the period when Bafana Bafana was under the coaching leadership of Molefi Ntseki.
