Motsepe Foundation Championship club, Baroka, has instructed all players whose contracts are ending to report for pre-season training by Wednesday.
However, Dan Ndhlovu, Sydney Malivha, and Thuso Mogale did not show up for training on either Wednesday or Thursday, leading to concerns about their attendance.
It is rumoured that the trio has already signed with Sekhukhune United, a team in the Betway Premiership, even though they still have a week left on their contracts with Baroka FC.
“I didn’t see any of those boys at training yesterday; they didn’t show up,” chairman Khurishi Mphahlele stated in an interview with KickOff.com.
“This means they have effectively released themselves from the club. Their contracts do not end until Monday, June 30.
“We expected to see them at training, but their current actions constitute a breach of contract. I am giving them until tomorrow to return. If they fail to show up, we will send them letters," he added.
Mphahlele says everyone who still has a contract with Baroka should have returned to the club's base by Wednesday, except for those with whom prior arrangements were made.
"Anyone without such arrangements is expected to report for training to fulfill their contractual obligations. Their contracts end at the end of this month.
“The next thing we know, they will rush to KickOff and claim that we haven’t paid them, but how can we pay people who aren’t showing up for work?
"If they don’t come, we will send them letters informing them that they will be facing disciplinary action. If they continue to be absent, we will proceed to dismiss them in their absence."
