Baroka breaks silence on Sekhukhune targets

Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has clarified the situation regarding two of his players, who are strongly linked with Sekhukhune United.

Recent reports suggested that Dan Ndhlovu and Sydney Malivha had signed with Betway Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United.

Both players, defensive midfielder Malivha and left winger Ndhlovu, were standout performers for Baroka during the 2024/2025 season.

Last season, Baroka finished in eighth position in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and sources indicate that the club plans to offload nearly half of its squad for the upcoming season.

Mphahlele stated to KickOff, "Maybe Dan Ndhlovu is going there; I don't know. However, Sydney Malivha still has a contract with us. As for Ndhlovu, his contract will not be renewed. Malivha has one year left on his contract, and we expect him back here when we reopen for the next season."

Additionally, it appears that Baroka may lose one of their promising strikers, Siyabonga Mtombeni, whose two-year contract is set to expire on June 30, 2025.

Mtombeni was signed by the Lebowakgomo-based club after scoring 17 goals for Jomo Cosmos in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League during the 2021/2022 season, despite only playing in their last 13 matches.

Previous coaches had played him in unfamiliar positions and required him to contribute defensively, which limited his offensive output to just five goals at Baroka.
