Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone believes Antoine Griezmann is destined for greatness

Griezmann was superb for his Spanish club last season and enjoyed a terrific Euro 2016 as he guided France to a second-place finish.

His performances earned him a nomination for UEFA's Best Player in Europe alongside Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Griezmann was pipped to the prize by the Portuguese, although Ronaldo declared afterwards that he thought the Atletico man deserved the award.

The 25-year-old forward recently stated that working under Simeone was what kept him at the club during the previous transfer window and the Argentine coach confirmed that he was invested in Griezmann's development.

"He knows he is at a wonderful club which is growing every day and a coach who wants him," Simeone told reporters. "He is destined to be up there with Messi, Ronaldo, and the best in the world."
