'When we suffer, they suffer' - Rulani's passionate plea to Yellow Nation for Yanga showdown

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has urged the Yellow Nation to fill Loftus Versfeld Stadium ahead of the second leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals against Young Africans SC.

Sundowns played to a goalless draw against Yanga during the first leg match of the Champions League in Tanzania last week Saturday.

The Brazilians now need to win by any score against the visitors in order to advance to the semi-finals of the continental tournament.

Mokwena says his team will be counting on the Yellow Nation for support in their efforts to bring down Yanga at their cauldron in Tshwane on Friday evening.

"I think that's why even in my post-match interview I spoke to the supporters because tomorrow (Friday), they have to play and I asked them to play the way they played against Al Ahly. The way they fared against Al Ahly, we won that game because of the fans," said Mokwena during Thursday's pre-match press conference in Pretoria.

"Not any moment during 90 minutes they were quiet, the drum kept beating and beating. I honestly believe if tomorrow (today) they come in numbers and fill the stadium and make it yellow and make the opposition uncomfortable throughout, even when we suffer they suffer with us, they have to energize us and give us that extra push.

"Sometimes that's where we have it with the Sundowns fans, to be honest, and the Yellow Nation. When we suffer, they suffer. They can't suffer with us tomorrow, they have to come and energize us and push us because if that happens tomorrow, we have a big advantage.

"This is because when Loftus is buzzing, when the Yellow Nation is singing, and with the energy they can give us, then the players go on and perform. This is what you need in the Champions League and you have to take advantage of the home ground," he added.

Masandawana are set to welcome back captain Themba Zwane after he missed the first leg match in Tanzanian due to a yellow cards accumulation suspension.
