SuperSport United moved to second spot with a 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership on Friday evening.
Defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe returned from suspension and was joined by Jamie Webber and Thapelo Maseko in United's three changes after the draw with Chippa United.
It was a perfect start for the host on four minutes after a free-kick from Webber deflected on the post and Grant Margeman reacted to cutback for Siphesihle Ndlovu to turn home.
SuperSport nearly extended their cushion four minutes later with a first-time shot in the box by Ghampani Lungu, but goalkeeper Vasilije Kolak parried.
Matsatsantsa continued pushing forward around the half-hour mark when Thapelo Maseko sold one challenge from brilliant play by Margeman and riffled across the far-post.
With the first half completed, Galaxy introduced Ebrahim Seedat for Tshegofatso Nyama as well as MacBeth Mahlangu ahead of Pogiso Sanoka.
SuperSport, though, went two up shortly after the halftime break when Margeman bombed down the right off a quick free-kick and crossed for Bradley Grobler to tap in for his tenth goal of the season.
Grobler could've grabbed a second goal minutes later with a diving header from another right-sided delivery by Margeman, but Kolak was able to parry on this occasion.
The Rockets almost had a route back midway through the second half when Mahlangu cut-in from a narrow angle and struck the post with a curling shot.
Matsatsantsa got chances to increase their tally towards full-time with a few half-chances, but they weren't able to get the necessary penetration in front of goal.
SuperSport still managed to see out the encounter amidst the late openings either end and marched to victory to keep their top-two hopes alive.
