Ahead of Saturday's highly-anticipated clash between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, here is a look at some of the incredible El Clasico records held by Lionel Messi.
Given Messi's reputation as one of football's greatest-ever goalscorers, it comes as no surprise to learn that the prolific forward has netted more times in El Clasico than any other player in the fixture's famous history.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has scored 26 goals across his 44 appearances against Real Madrid, which puts him eight strikes clear of Cristiano Ronaldo and Alfredo Di Stéfano, who both netted 18 times against Barca for Los Blancos.
Messi also holds the competition-specific goalscoring records for the fixture in LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup, having netted 18 times in the domestic league competition and a further six times in the latter tournament.
He is also one of only five players to have scored two hat-tricks in the derby, alongside Jaime Lazcano, Santiago Bernabéu, Paulino Alcántara and Ferenc Puskás, and has scored in more unique editions (17) of the match than any other player from either club.
It's not all about goals for the Argentine superstar as he also boasts the most appearances in the fixture by a Barca player (44) and has recorded the most assists after setting up 14 goals for his Blaugrana teammates over the years.
In respect of the former milestone, Messi will equal Sergio Ramos' overall record of 45 El Clasico appearances if he features on Saturday, as the Real Madrid captain is set to miss the encounter due to injury.
