Free agent Tau tipped to join African giants

Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has been tipped to join one of the biggest teams in Africa following his departure from Qatar SC.

The 31-year-old is officially a free agent after the Qatar Stars League side confirmed his departure last week despite only joining the team in the January transfer window.

Former Al Ahly star Ahmed Shouber has caused a bit of controversy on social media by claiming Tau and a few other Egyptian players could all end up at Zamalek.

"Shouber on Zamalek transfers: 'Mohamed Sherif, Percy Tau, and Tamer Hossam have ended their contracts with their clubs, and Ahmed Abdelkader's loan in Qatar has also ended, and it's not far-fetched to see the quartet in Egypt and in one club,"Shouber tweeted.

There have been reports claiming that Zamalek are keen on signing the South African forward, who was on the books of the club's fierce rivals Al Ahly.

Tau recently stated in an Robert Marawa, that he is open to listening to offers from South African teams.

“I will listen if there are offers, I’m not ruling out anyone. There’s a lot to take in, to consider, you have to consider age, how long the contract is and then family,” Tau told Marawa.

“If that situation were to happen. I would pay attention to it,” he added.

"If Sundowns were not to offer me a contract and Chiefs does, then it won’t be my fault but theirs that I’ve gone to join Chiefs."
