Real Madrid progressed to the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday evening.
Los Blancos were unchanged from the win over RB Salzburg, while Daniele Rugani, Francisco Conceicao, Randal Kolo Muani returned for the Old Lady.
Kolo Muani missed a glorious chance five minutes in when he outpaced Antonio Rudiger to go through on goal and dinked onto the roof of the net.
Madrid came alive after a slow start and went close to going ahead when Aurelien Tchouameni drew a smart diving save from goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.
Di Gregorio was in the thick of things again on the half-hour mark and smothered Jude Bellingham profiting from a tight angle inside the six-yard area.
The long-range shots from Madrid continued on the stroke of halftime where Federico Valverde unleashed a scorcher that forced Di Gregorio into a one-hand save.
Real seized control five minutes into the second half when Gonzalo Garcia made a strong leap in the area to head in a cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Midfield ace Federico Valverde looked to add a second goal through an audacious overhead kick from a tight angle, but Di Gregorio stood tall once more to make the save.
Kylian Mbappe came on for the goal-scorer Garcia in the midway stage of the second half for his first appearance of the tournament.
Juventus still maintained a balanced approach despite the persistent pressure from Los Blancos as the minutes to full-time loomed large.
In the end, Madrid emerged victorious and advanced to the quarter-finals with the Italian giants eliminated from the Club World Cup.
