Chelsea edged closer to securing UEFA Champions League football after defeating Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
Mason Mount started against his former employers while Amad Diallo and Casemiro were also recalled after last week's loss to West Ham United.
The visitors thought they had taken the lead in the 15th minute through Harry Maguire's neat finish, but the celebrations were for nothing after the goal was disallowed for offside by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The Blues nearly took the lead against the run of play ten minutes later when Reece James' powerful volley rattled against the upright with Andre Onana seemingly beaten.
Chelsea did see a lot more of the ball in the latter stages of the first half, but they were unable to carve out another opening in the 18-yard area before the halftime break.
The second continued in similar fashion to the first, but Chelsea thought they had won a penalty after the hour mark after Andre Onana brought down Tyrique Georg but a VAR check, the referee reversed his decision.
Chelsea got the breakthrough in the 71st minute when James did well to pick out Marc Cucurella, who sent a powerful header past Onana.
The goal was enough to seal the win and send the Blues up to fourth spot with one game left in the season.
