Arsenal's perfect record ended by Brighton

Arsenal were unable to make it three Premier League wins in a row after a 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium.

Leandro Trossard was rewarded with a start for the Gunners after netting the winning goal against Aston Villa last weekend, sending Gabriel Martinelli to the bench.

It was all Arsenal in the opening stages of the first but they should have been ahead after 16 minutes when Martin Odegaard was unable to turn home Kai Havertz's cross in the six.

Brighton looked a little livelier after 15 minutes as Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma started seeing a bit more of the ball on the flanks, while the former managed to force David Raya into a fine save.

It was the Gunners who got the breakthrough in the 38th minute when Bukayo Saka sent Kai Havertz through on goal, with the German lobbing the ball into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.

While the Gunners ended the half on a high, they were reduced to ten men five minutes after the halftime break when Declan Rice was given his marching orders for picking up his second yellow card.

Brighton got their reward in the 57th minute when Joao Pedro made it two goals in two games with a lovely finish after Raya had initially saved Minteh's powerful strike.

The Gunners nearly restored their lead with 15 minutes to play when Havertz managed to break free on a counter attack but the German's strike was kept out by goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

In the end, 1-1 was how the encounter finished as the Gunners were able to hold on despite a late onslaught from Brighton.
