The Real Madrid and Barcelona stars have butted heads for glory and records for over a decade, with both Ronaldo and Messi dominating global football with five Ballon d'Or crowns apiece.
In terms of goals, it's Barca's Messi who leads the way with 547 strikes, while Ronaldo is 99 behind, although the Portuguese's 448 goals have come in five seasons less than his Argentine rival.
Added to that, Ronaldo has 20 UEFA Champions League goals more than Messi, leaving Chelsea legend Lampard "without a doubt" as to who football's best player is.
“He’s reinvented his game into his 30s,” Express quote Lampard as saying of Ronaldo.
“He’s become almost an out-and-out goal striker in terms of the way he plays.
“His numbers are incredible, his skill is incredible. Overhead kicks, goals in these massive games, more than anyone in world football.
“It’s difficult to compare anyone, obviously Lionel Messi.
“But in terms of what he’s actually done, in terms of actual numbers, it’s clear at the minute, without a doubt.”
