English Premier League match report Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho brought back Matt Doherty, Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Lucas Moura from last Sunday's thrilling 3-3 draw against West Ham United.

Spurs supplied the first warning in the opening exchanges with Harry Kane fashioning in from a tight angle before Moura went close with a cross-cum shot from the right-side.

Burnley had the ball in the back of the net on 20 minutes through a first-time finish from Ashley Barnes, but the goal was disallowed after the forward went into an offside position.

The Clarets did all the digging in the closing minutes of the first half, as Ashley Westwood and Johann Berg Gudmundsson left Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris scrambling to near post saves.

Spurs' slow start carried on after halftime, with a rasping strike from Chris Wood from a loose pass outside the area trickling past the bottom-corner.

With an hour played at Turf Moor, Mourinho freshened up his initial starting line-up through Erik Lamela ten minutes from the break, as Moura made way for the Argentine.

Kane, known for his scoring exploits, showed his defence capabilities on 72 minutes after thumping James Tarkowski's header from a corner-kick from the goal-line and back into play.

Spurs came up with the opener five minutes later when Heung-min Son calmly directed a pull from Kane into the far corner of the net. '

The Clarets began digging for the equaliser towards full-time, but Spurs held out to claim victory and fifth-place while Burnley are still winless.
