Mane makes 'demand' to 15yo Senegal wonderkid

With talented prospect Amara Diouf recently grabbing the headlines after making his Senegal debut aged just 15, Sadio Mane has now made a demand to the highly-rated teenager.

Diouf become the Lions of Teranga's youngest-ever debutant when he came on in the second half of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda on Saturday, doing so at just 15 years old and 94 days.

The teenager burst on to the scene at the U17 AFCON in Algeria earlier this year, finishing as the tournament's top goalscorer with five goals in six games as a left-winger.

This feat saw him being named in the competition's team of the tournament, while it also ensured that he broke Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen's record for most goals scored at an U17 AFCON.

Unsurprisingly, this has drawn a lot of attention to the Generation Foot academy star from the game's top clubs who continue to sniff out talent from various parts of the world, with the likes of Brazilian wonderkids Endrick and Vitor Roque having been snapped up by Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, respectively, in recent months, despite still being teenagers.

Both Spanish giants are reportedly among the clubs whose interest has been piqued by Diouf, with Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Arsenal also said to be lurking.

However, according to Generation Foot president Mady Traore, a deal has already been agreed for Diouf to join FC Metz in France in the near future – a route identical to that taken by Mane when he made the leap from Dakar to Europe.

The Al Nassr star has now insisted that Diouf must sign for the French club next and ignore the lure of the big teams in the meantime.

"Sign for Metz, you won't regret it," Mane said, according to Ligue 1's official website.

"I went through the third division with this team, and look where I am now.

"The big clubs will still be there if you take your time."
