Head coach Benni McCarthy has received some praise from a former Kenya coach ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Harambee Stars have begun preparations for the tournament after McCarthy named a 30-man provisional squad on Friday afternoon.

The naming of the squad was met by some criticism, while some feel there is not enough time to prepare for the tournament, which gets underway on 2 August.
However, former Harambee stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee has backed the South African tactician to get it right.
"Many are worried about the limited training time, but success isn’t always about how long you prepare—it’s about how well you prepare,” Mulee told Tata Sports.
“The current squad is well-balanced, and I believe they have what it takes to compete.
"I urge Kenyans to come out in numbers and support the team.
“We’ve seen how the crowd can lift the players—just look at the match against Gabon at Nyayo. That kind of energy can be the difference-maker.”
