Al Ahly have now reportedly been offered the chance to sign a former FC Porto star amid reports that talisman Percy Tau could leave the club.
Tau's future in Cairo is under increasing uncertainty, with one of the club's former assistant coaches, Cavin Johnson, having suggested that the player is likely to leave soon.

The reigning CAF Champions League winners are believed to be in the market for reinforcements to their forward line, given that Mohamed Sherif also recently left the club to join Saudi Arabia's Al Khaleej.
According to Saudi outlet Alyaum, the Red Devils have now been presented with an offer to sign former Porto star Moussa Marega after he was released by Al Hilal, who have since replaced him with Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham.
The French-born Mali international's only experience in African football came in 2014, when he joined Tunisian giants Esperance in a stint that lasted just seven months before he moved back to Europe.
It is understood that Marcel Koller's quest for a new foreign forward could be further motivated by the potential departure of Tau, who was one of the side's leading talismen with 10 goals and seven assists in the 2022/23 campaign.
Speaking recently, the Egyptian giants' former assistant manager Johnson hinted at the Bafana Bafana star potentially moving to Saudi Arabia amid the massive influx of foreign talent being taken to that country's top flight.
"The changes happening in the Saudi league. The fact that they're taking quite a few top players means that they want to do something or something is happening within the Saudi FA, allowing them to attract players like Neymar, [Karim] Benzema, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and [Riyad] Mahrez," he told FARPost.
"Percy Tau has done very well for Al Ahly, and the fact that those players I mentioned are in Saudi and Percy goes there, he can only get better.
"When I look at the history of Ahly and how they treat foreign players, yes, Percy has given them a good return. He's getting into his third season.
"Sometimes they don't make it go too long. Three seasons is probably the most. I don't think Percy will be there for too long."
However, according to Saudi publication SportKSA, Tau is only a "plan B" for Saudi side Al Shabab, who would prefer Everton winger Demarai Gray as their first-choice winger signing.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Shabab have reached a verbal agreement in principle with the Premier League team for Gray's services, although he added that personal terms are still being discussed with the player.
