One of Al Ahly board members is said to have raised question marks over the club's reported plans to appoint departing Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.
Pirates announced that Riveiro will make his final appearance with the team on Tuesday when they face off against Manqoba mngqithi’s Golden Arrows in a Betway Premiership match at the Orlando Stadium.
The Red Devils have been actively searching for a new manager after parting ways with Swiss coach Marcel Koller following their elimination from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals.

Over the past number of weeks, several prominent coaches, including Riveiro and Portuguese mentor Jose Gomes, amongst others, have been mentioned as potential successors to Koller.
Nonetheless, it seems that the outgoing Buccaneers coach is the one expected to take over at the Egyptian Premier League club ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Reports have suggested that Riveiro has already finalized his agreement with Ahly and is expected to join the team soon.

However, a report from Eremnews.com has indicated that Ahly board member and club legend Hossam Ghaly is against the appointment of Riveiro, arguing that his coaching style does not align with the team's needs.
The report mentioned that Ghaly favors the former Zamalek coach Jose Gomes, who currently leads the Saudi Arabian club Al-Fateh, although Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib is believed to have dismissed him as a candidate for the position.
