MC Alger’s new boss Rulani Mokwena has reflected on the kind of impact playing in the Moroccan league has had on Thembinkosi Lorch.
Mokwena is brimming with optimism following his recent appointment as the new head coach of reigning Algerian champions MC Alger.
According to Transfermarkt, the 38-year-old tactician signed a two-year deal with his new club after spending almost three months without a job.

Nevertheless, Mokwena has opened up about his latest appointment, while revealing how a high-quality league like Morocco’s Botola Pro 1 was a game-changer for a player like Lorch at his former club Wydad Athletic Club.
“After Wydad, we debriefed and I sat down with my agent to analyse my mistakes, his mistakes, the club's mistakes because we all felt we could have won when we went to Wydad and then we did not win so of course you have to do some introspection," Mokwena said on Metro FM.
After that we put together some objectives for my career and this one seemed to meet quite a few of those. (a team in)CAF Champions League, a team with some of the best players already, a team competing at a very aggressive level, the fans, they are incredible, they are so passionate about the club.”
"When the offer came I was very close to saying I will take some time off, take a season and travel a little bit. They were laughing because i was saying i would have more fun in Algeria even if it lasts for six months than i would have at home."
Mokwena also emphasised the importance of the CAF Champions League:"Working in a Champions League team is so important, because you can change the life of the club, you can change the lives of football players. You can just imagine some of the lives that have been changed at Wydad, for example. I mean, [Thembinkosi] Lorch, for example, you mentioned.
