Pitso & Zamalek 'set' for meeting of minds

With former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach, Pitso Mosimane reportedly in advanced talks to take over at Egyptian giants Zamalek, it is now said the two parties are set for a meeting of minds.

Mosimane has been heavily linked with the White Knights recently, with reports suggesting that he could be joining Zamalek in the coming weeks.

The South African tactician is currently unattached after parting ways with Iranian club Esteghlal FC in January this year due to financial issues.

Now, reports from Egypt is that Mosimane is preparing for a key meeting with Zamalek officials to finalize contractual details.

"Mosimane welcomed coaching Zamalek in the coming period," a source said according to Eremnews.com.

"A meeting will be held with the South African coach to determine the salary.

"Once all contractual matters are approved, the contracts will be officially signed and his appointment as coach of the Whites will be announced.

"Zamalek has set a fee of $80,000 (R1,4 million) to $100,000 (R1,7 million) to hire a new foreign coach to succeed Ayman El-Ramady."

Recently, reports have claimed that Mosimane is demanding a salary of $180,000 (approx. R3.2 million) to take the role. If appointed, he would replace Jose Peseiro, who was recently dismissed.

Also linked to the Zamalek job is Rulani Mokwena, another high-profile SA coach and former Wydad Athletic Club, who is reportedly in the running as well.

Mosimane, a three-time CAF Champions League winner, remains a highly sought-after coach on the continent, and his potential return to Egyptian football is being closely watched.
