Ex-Stellies star joins 8th club

A former Stellenbosch FC star has now joined the eighth club of his professional career.

It has been confirmed that former Stellies defensive midfielder Nathan Sinkala has joined Zambian giants Zanaco.

In a statement on Zanaco's official website, the club said: "Zanaco Football Club is pleased to announce the acquisition of eight new players as part of its preparations for the upcoming 2025/2026 MTN Super League season.

"These strategic additions aim to strengthen key areas of the squad, positioning the club for a highly competitive and successful campaign.

"The new signings bring a mix of experience and creativity."

The statement added: "Tinkler Sinkala, a hardworking central defender from Kabwe Warriors, has signed a three-year contract."

To a South African audience, Sinkala is best remembered for his two-year spell at the Danie Craven Stadium between 2020 and 2022.

During this period, the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations-winning star with Zambia registered five goals and one assist in 55 appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

In his final season at Stellenbosch, 2021/22, Sinkala helped the Western Cape club achieve a fourth-place finish – their highest ever at the time.

Impressively, Sinkala is well-decorated, having won three major CAF competitions, including AFCON with Chipolopolo, as well as the Champions League and two Confederation Cups with TP Mazembe.
