Speculation is rife with reports linking Coetzee, 20, with a move away from the Urban Warriors at the end of the current season while there has also been suggestions that a move away from the Cape side for Lebusa, 24 – also capped once for Bafana – will be expedient for his future.
Coetzee is into the final three months of a deal he signed in December 2014 and has reportedly been recommended to a number of teams in Europe, while a move to one of the big teams locally could also be on the cards.
Meanwhile, over a year ago, Lebusa committed himself to the club until 2019 but would be a viable addition to either of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns given his attributes, can also play center-back and in midfield- and a lack of depth from each of the aforementioned sides.
Speaking exclusively to snl24.com/kickoff, Menzo said he feels Rivaldo still needs to add ‘leadership’ to his qualities and reckons that Lebusa needs to be challenged more.
“Sometimes a player performs better with a certain player next to him,” Manzo said.
“But I think he needs to improve -in order to make the same step same as Mosa [Lebusa] - on being a leader. Organising the team, commanding more and being in charge of his defense.
“Maybe he needs someone next to him who will give him, who will help him to that direction. Is it here or it is somewhere else, I do not know, it depends on him.
“What does he wants to do to make the next step? He can make it here by being a leader, by organising and by being the boss of the defense but might be doing that elsewhere with someone else next to him.
“When I played, I had, for example, I had Roland Koeman, he became a better central defender because he played with someone next to him who was complimenting him well and he could improve, and he could do a lot of things and he got stronger. He became a much better Central Defender and he went on to play for Barcelona. Sometimes those things help a player and it depends on how quick you make that step.
“Same with Mosa [Lebusa],” the former Lierse coach added.
“We are pushing him to make that next step but it is up to him and maybe he needs something in somebody, in the field to help him do that.
“When I look at his qualities, in South Africa, as far as I’ve seen, he [Lebusa] is one of the better left backs.
“But again, something can take you above your level, a higher level can also make you a good player or you remain a normal [average] player, if you make the next step so the next step will be how you are challenged more, asked for more, because you are playing at a higher level. So you have to play here at a higher level to breach the gap from where you are to the top.
“That is the challenge, how do I arrive at the top? Struggling or I arrived there already matured? That’s a big question.”
