Rodgers has signed a one-year contract with the club with a one-year option following his exit from Bidvest Wits at the end of June.
The lanky 33-year-old netted seven goals in 39 appearances for Wits. Despite the modest return, Stars coach Luc Eymael has seen fit to rope in the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town targetman.
“Im grateful for this opportunity and want to make the most of it by adding value,” Rodgers tells snl24.com/kickoff.
“Stars has shown that they have huge ambitions, especially after they won the Nedbank Cup last season and it's obvious the club want to build on that.
“I have ambitions to score as many goals as I can and to help make our attack more potent and a force to be reckoned with.”
The Cape Town-born Rodgers has no regrets about his two-year stay with the Clever Boys.
“I had the time of my life during my first season and it was all in all a good time at Wits while it lasted.
“Special thanks to supporters and all the staff from Bidvest and especially my teammates.
“It was a great privilege to meet and play with the bunch that was there. I wish everyone the best going forward,” Rodgers concludes.
