United, formerly known as Platinum Stars, have relocated from Phokeng to the Mother City and look set to sport a new-look side following their relegation from the Absa Premiership.
According to a source close to the club, the likes of Enocent Mkhabela, Lehlogonolo Masalesa, Robert Ng'ambi, Mbongeni Mzimela and captain Vuyo Mere were not at Monday's training session, while Eric Chipeta and Sipho Senne have been retained by the Roger de Sa-coached outfit.
"The team started training yesterday with a few of the players from the team of last season," says the informant.
"The rest are trialists.
"Vuyo Mere, Mzimela and Masalesa are not training with the team."
De Sa has roped in former Kaizer Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town defender Dominic Isaacs to serve as an assistant coach.
The ex-Orlando Pirates mentor is currently on the lookout for Under-23 players.
