EXCLUSIVE: Okon agrees terms with Soweto giants

SuperSport United defender Ime Okon has finally made a decision regarding his future just after helping Bafana Bafana reach the final of the COSAFA Cup, with a big Gauteng club his next destination.

After releasing Edmilson Dove and Njabulo Blom, Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have acted quickly to secure Okon's signature for 2025/26 .

In addition, Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates have also expressed interest in the player, having reportedly long become a target of theirs.

However, sources indicate that Amakhosi have outpaced Bucs to the services of the lanky defender, who was born in Johannesburg to a South African mother and a Nigerian father.

It appears that the Naturena-based side have already reached an agreement with the 21-year-old.

Okon, who can also play in defensive midfield, featured in 24 matches for SuperSport last term and even contributed a goal.

Although his contract officially expires on June 30, he is expected to finalise the deal with his new club before then.

"Yes, Okon is joining one of the Soweto giants this weekend. I'm not sure which club it is, as he is prohibited from disclosing details about the deal.

"However, he is very excited to join his childhood favourite club, which I know to be Kaizer Chiefs. Everything will be revealed this weekend," a source told KickOff.com.
