A former Orlando Pirates striker has questioned the players in the league for awarding Mamelodi Sundowns' Lucas Ribeiro the Betway Premiership Players' Player of the Season ahead of Relebohile Mofokeng.
On Tuesday, Ribeiro received both the Footballer of the Season and the Players' Player of the Season awards, officially making him the best player in South Africa.

"What can we say, people have voted; as for the Footballer of the Season award, I think the Brazilian Lucas Ribeiro deserves it," Bruce Ramokadi told KickOff.
"However, Relebohile Mofokeng should have been voted the Players' Player of the Season. He deserves it. He was unfairly overlooked by his fellow players. He performed well even with the national team.
"Relebohile Mofokeng had an excellent season, but I believe the PSL players favored Ribeiro because of his impact on Sundowns' league victory. He contributed significantly to the chances Sundowns created, and they were trying to be fair."
Ramokadi also supported the decision to name Orlando Pirates' strongman Makhehleni Makhaula the Betway Premiership Midfielder of the Season.
"Yes, there are many complaints about Makhaula winning the award, but I believe he excelled in strengthening the team in the midfield.

"Being named Midfielder of the Season doesn't necessarily mean you have to create and score goals; it can also be about your contributions defensively. People focus too much on statistics.
"You can score but not play well. Scoring doesn't always equate to good performance. Makhehleni's performances this past season were very strong. Pirates struggled in the games he missed."
