Another injury blow for Nomvethe's record chaser

In what will come as a big blow, KickOff has learned that SuperSport United may have to do without one of their top strikers for a few more weeks due to another injury setback.

A source has informed this publication that leading marksman Bradley Grobler sustained an injury during a training session on Monday.

He has reportedly cracked his cheekbone, which will keep him sidelined for an extended period.

The Tshwane side has faced a string of injuries to key players early in the season, resulting in difficulties in achieving positive results on the field.

Last season, the 36-year-old contributed 12 goals in 33 matches across all competitions.

At the start of 2024/25, he was forced to watch his teammates from the sidelines after suffering a knee injury against Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinals of the MTN8.

This has been a challenging season for the veteran, who is expected to retire this year due to age and the recurring injuries.

Despite this, he is a proven goalscorer and has already netted twice in six appearances this term, in addition to providing one assist.

Grobler is third on the list of the all-time PSL top scorers with, behind Siyabonga Nomvethe (123) and Peter Shalulile (116) and whether he will call it quits before breaking the record remains to be seen.
