Solinas was only appointed in July 2024, and he now exits his role just 11 games into the Sudan Super D1 League, where the team currently lies sixth in the table, four points adrift of the top spot.
A statement posted on the club's official Facebook page reads: "The Al-Merrikh Board of Directors, following a recommendation from the sporting director and after 48 hours of negotiations, has decided to terminate the contract of head coach Giovanni Solinas and his technical staff.
"This decision was made after an investigation to safeguard the club's rights. Based on the findings of the investigation and the negotiation sessions, both parties agreed to a mutual termination of the contract.
"The board has instructed the immediate reinstatement of suspended players to training and has assigned assistant coach Ibrahim Hussein, also known as 'Ebrahoma,' to oversee the technical management on an interim basis.
"The board also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the club's rights and assets against any violations. It is worth noting that during its last meeting, the board resolved to review the technical staff setup.
"The sporting director presented a report on the state of the football team, and the board endorsed the recommendations outlined in the report, which included reconsidering the technical staff through a proper legal and administrative process.
"Today, the contract with the head coach and the technical team was officially terminated by mutual consent."
