Du Preez clear in his message to Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs forward Ashley Du Preez has come out about his position preference and mindset alignment after returning from injury.

Du Preez has found himself deployed on the flanks throughout his time at Chiefs due to his incredible pace.

However, given a choice, he knows where he would want to play, which fortunately for him is where Nasreddine Nabi has played him this season.

"I prefer to play as a number nine because the runs I make is different to other strikers," says Du Preez.

"But then, it doesn't matter where the coach is playing me - on the left or on the right, or as a striker.

"Whenever the coach makes a decision, I will do a job for the team," he notes, pointing out on the plans for the season.

The 27-year-old missed several matches in January and February due to injury and still has four goals to his name in all competitions.

"As a player, you set goals at the start of the season.

"But then, when things like injuries come along, all that you need to do is reset and refocus and start getting back on goals.

"When there are setbacks, what matters is how you bounce back.

"So, for me as a player, the goals are the same as I still want to score more goals because I'm forward player.

"Injuries are always setbacks, and you have to bounce back.

"Like I said before, I want to improve my goals, so that is the thing I'm working on," says Du Preez, who will be in action for Chiefs against Cape Town City on Wednesday (19:30) at FNB Stadium.
