Agent reveals what's next for Mokwana after Club World Cup

Agent Pontsho Madumo has opened up on Esperance winger Elias Mokwana's potential transfer after his FIFA Club World Cup appearance.

Mokwana featured in all three group games for Esperance at the 2025 FIFA Club World, as the Tunisian giants could not qualify for the knockout stages following a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the early hours of Wednesday (SA time).

They started with a 2-0 loss to Flamengo and revived their chances of getting out of the round-robin after edging Los Angeles 1-0, but their hopes evaporated after defeat to The Blues.

The Bafana Bafana star is reportedly one of the players from Esperance who have attracted interest from European clubs in France, Turkey, Belgium and Portugal after his showing at the global tournament taking place in the United States.

There have also been rumours that PSL clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs could rekindle interest in the former Sekhukhune United winger in the upcoming transfer window.

Madumo, however, has admitted that Esperance value the 25-year-old highly and moving him abroad could be their priority, although not completely ruling out a return to South Africa.

"They (Esperance) are really valuing him. Obviously, if a big offer comes, they would also like to see their player playing in Europe, (given) their relationship with European teams," said Mokwana's agent Madumo of Cream Sports Management, speaking to KickOff.com.

"That's what Esperance are looking at, but for PSL, I doubt (a deal could happen). Maybe in the future.

"Also remember, the boy is happy there. But if the opportunity comes (from the PSL), he will grab it with both hands, especially if Esperance are willing to sell.

"Esperance are looking to compete in the (CAF) Champions League again, the boy could be at the AFCON, World Cup, so there's a lot for the boy and the team to gain as well," Madumo added.
