With Durban-born star Ethan Chislett set to join Kaizer Chiefs, here's a look at South African players who began their professional careers abroad before playing in the PSL.
Chislett is believed to be joining Amakhosi ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with the 26-year-old set to sign a reported two-year deal with the club.
He will arrive at Chiefs as a free agent after reportedly turning down other offers from abroad following the expiry of his contract at Port Vale this month.

Despite being born in KwaZulu-Natal, Chislett is set to play professionally in his homeland for the first time, having spent his entire career in England, along with a brief stint in Spain.
This is not unprecedented, as other stars such as Dean Furman have taken a similar path.
In 2015, the Cape Town-born Furman joined SuperSport United from Doncaster Rovers in England, where he had also represented the likes of Oldham Athletic, Bradford City, and had been part of the Chelsea academy.
Furman had also played in Scotland for Rangers.
In 2009, Johannesburg-born Matthew Pattison joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Norwich City. This marked the first time the now-retired midfielder played professionally in South Africa, having begun his career in England with Newcastle United.
Although yet to be confirmed, Netherlands-born striker Simon van Duivenbooden is reportedly close to joining AmaZulu from Vitesse. Van Duivenbooden recently attained South African citizenship and has declared his intention to represent Bafana Bafana.
If the move materialises, he would become the latest player to feature professionally in South Africa for the first time after launching his career abroad.
