PSL-linked star's price tag set at R2 million

A 2024/25 Golden Boot winner, who is being courted by South African clubs, has now been given a modest price tag of just R2 million.

Various South African clubs have been scouring the continent in search of new signings ahead of next season.

Some PSL sides have been eyeing talent in Tanzania’s top flight, while neighbouring Kenya is now said to have burgeoning potential as well.

Kenya’s standout performer this season, Moses Shumah, is reportedly the most highly sought-after player in the nation’s top flight at the moment.

Starring for Kakamega Homeboyz, Shumah recently clinched the 2024/25 Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot after scoring 17 goals.

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has confirmed the fee it would take for potential suitors to secure Shumah’s services.

“The price last time was Ksh10 million (R1.3 million) but now, it is Ksh15 million (R2 million) because he has finished the season as top scorer,” Shimanyula told Pulse Sports.

Before revealing Shumah's increased valuation, the club’s chairman also confirmed that two unnamed South African teams have shown interest in the 22-year-old striker.

"The reason as to why I feel that there is no single Kenyan club with the chance to sign him is the kind of offers we have for him from foreign clubs," Shimanyula explained to Mozzart Sport.

"Two clubs from the South African league, a big club from Zambia and two from the Tanzanian league have placed bids running into millions. We are also negotiating with clubs from outside Africa."
