With Al Ahly expected to return to Egypt on Wednesday following an early exit from the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Jose Riveiro has reportedly been summoned to a meeting while the players could face punishment.
Al Ahly were eliminated in the group stage of the revamped Club World Cup after finishing bottom of Group A.

The Egyptian giants drew their matches against Inter Miami and FC Porto, while suffering a 2–0 defeat to Brazilian side Palmeiras.
Reports in Egypt suggest that Al Ahly are scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Wednesday afternoon, with an immediate inquest into the team’s performance expected to follow.
According to YSScores, Al Ahly chairman Mahmoud El Khatib has summoned Riveiro and the club’s sporting director Mohamed Youssef to explain the team’s showing at the tournament.
The Club World Cup debrief is reportedly not the only item on the agenda, with the meeting also expected to address transfer matters — both incoming and outgoing.
It is further reported that players will be given an 18-day break before returning for pre-season. However, they may face disciplinary action for the team’s disappointing early exit.
