With Yusuf Maart and Mohau Nkota having completed moves abroad, here’s a look at every South African star who secured an overseas transfer in 2025.
This week, Maart joined Austrian top-flight side SV Ried from Kaizer Chiefs, marking his first-ever stint abroad.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who played a vital role in ending Amakhosi's 10-year wait for a major trophy, has signed a deal with SV Ried running until June 2027.

While Maart is the first South African to join an Austrian club in decades, he isn’t the only player from his nation to move abroad in recent days.
Orlando Pirates confirmed the departure of Nkota, who has since joined Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.
The 20-year-old signed a contract running until June 2028, joining a squad that includes high-profile stars such as Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum and French striker Moussa Dembele.
Recent Bafana Bafana debutant Ime Okon also completed a move to German side Hannover 96.
The imposing defender left the now-defunct SuperSport United to sign a four-year contract with the Bundesliga 2 outfit.
Earlier this year, Cape Town-born midfielder Jamie Webber swapped Sekhukhune United for a move to FC Tulsa, a club competing in the second tier of US football.
